Motorcycle Camping in Death Valley

posted: Friday, November 20, 2009
The club took a motorcycle camping trip to Death Valley last weekend, spending overnight at Furnace Creek Campground.
Seven people on seven bikes made the trip, leaving Saturday morning and heading up US Hwy 395, then stopping at Kramer Junction for breakfast. The route continued up Trona Rd, and then up through Wildrose, and finally into Stovepipe Wells where we bought our park passes for the day.
After setting up camp at Furnace Creek, the club took an evening ride to Dante's View. Back at camp, we cooked up some pork tenderloin, louisiana hot links, and roasted bacon over the fire. There was plenty of beer, wine, and whiskey, and enough firewood to last until midnight.
The following day the club rode Artist's Drive and then later stopped at Badwater Basin. Finally we headed into Shoshone and had breakfast at the "world famous" Crowbar Saloon.
On the way home, we passed through Baker, and continued down back roads into Kelso Depot to check out the old train station. Then finally made our last stop at Joshua Tree Saloon for one last beer.
The whole route went about 677 miles from staging back to staging.

| About Us |
|
The HeatWave Riding Club is a motorcycle riding club whose members call Southern California their home. We're not a motorcycle club, but a riding club focused on the enjoyment of riding motorcycles and the continued improvement of riding skills and techniques.
Our goal is to promote the pasttime of motorcycle riding, racking up lots of miles, seeing lots of countryside, and getting the most out of the enjoyment of riding.
If anything makes the HeatWave different from other riding clubs is that we try to put more emphasis on the "club" aspect of being a riding club. We're all about the riding, but limit our membership to those who see eye to eye with our unique philosophy of motorcycle riding.
If you're a rider that just loves to ride, and ride, and ride... and you'd like to share that passion with others, hook up with us and see if our group is what you're looking for.
